Role Purpose

To provide timely completion of accounts assignments to enable MPA to provide proactive support and advice to our clients so that deadlines are met, and our clients feel valued. This in turn enables MPA to create and build client relationships, founded on us being their trusted adviser.

Responsibilities

  • Make time to understand the client, their industry, sector and economy so that you can build a relationship with the client and look for opportunities to win new work.
  • Agree timeframes for all work to ensure deadlines are met and excellent client service is maintained.
  • Delegate work to junior members of the team to build business capability and capacity.  This will also enable you to take on more detailed technical work therefore increasing personal capability.
  • Complete tax computations and/or accounts for clients to the highest standard.
  • Assist junior members of the team with tax calculations, accounting queries, bookkeeping, VAT, and any other services which the tax and accounting team may undertake.
  • Ensure standards are upheld and that you are aware of these standards. This is to ensure that MPA’s ACCA accreditation is maintained and the service we are providing is to the highest standard. Further to this, that policy, process, best practice, and legal compliance is always observed.
  • Maintain and keep up to date PeopleHR, my working papers, IRIS, Xero, HubSpot, Hubdocs and any other software or monitoring spreadsheets used within MPA. This includes ensuring it is done in a timely manner, is complete and is accurate so that information is available and reportable effectively and efficiently.
  • Complete appropriate CPD to remain technically up to date.

This is a critical role within our business and as such demands a proven professional.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experienced Accountant working towards ACCA.
  • Accounts preparation.  Tax training will be provided.
  • Organisational skills – personal efficiency, time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Communication skills – ability to engage at all levels both verbally and in writing utilising a variety of channels.
  • Role model – able to demonstrate the values, behaviours, and culture of the business.
  • Professional expertise – general working knowledge of accounting standards and regulations.
  • Trust – as a member of the tax and accounts team interfacing with the whole business, develop and demonstrate trust through expertise, values, and behaviour.
  • Systems – strong knowledge and experience of tax / accounting software and other operational software (Microsoft word, excel, power point).
  • Working style – able to work independently and demonstrate initiative as well as in a team providing support across all levels.
