MPA partners with the Solid Handling & Processing Association (SHAPA)

Who are SHAPA?

Founded in 1981, SHAPA have grown to be the leading authority on solids handling and processing industry matters. Their members, with the support of the association, are recognised for competitive prices and the highest quality solids and powder handling products and systems. The technical and product information resources provided by SHAPA enable their members to keep abreast of the latest product developments and legislation in a wide range of solids and bulk handling technologies.

Why SHAPA?

The solid handling of powders and bulk solids is a critical industrial technology from minerals processing to bulk and fine chemicals, food production and pharmaceutical industries. As the 9th largest manufacturing nation in the world SHAPA members can support the improvement in performance of the sector and help rebalance the UK’s reliance on the service industries which can be achieved through investing into developing new products and process.

Our specialists work with HMRC daily and as members of their R&D Consultative Committee we are kept updated with the latest rule changes. At MPA we regularly see innovation help companies build market leading positions. Our manufacturing industry specialists and tax experts can help SHAPA members capitalise on innovation through R&D tax credits and Patent Box relief, cash injections which can be reinvested into future R&D activity.

The uptake of HMRC concessions continues to rise and a significant amount claimed has gone back to businesses to further support their growth ambitions. Developing the performance of manufacturing industries is crucial if the UK is to become less reliant on its services sector. We’re delighted to now be able to support SHAPA members in their research and development activities through our specialist knowledge of innovation funding schemes.
