MPA is aware that HMRC has placed a hold on the payment of some research and development tax credit claims.

There will be some delays in processing, we are slowly receiving some. So, we urge anyone looking to file soon, to be proactive.

This measure has been put into place while HMRC investigate some irregular claims.

Additional resource has been provided to HMRC to undertake checks in an effort to reduce abuse of the system, so ensuring claims are fully complete, compliant, and contain supporting information and documentation is vital.

HMRC have requested advisors not to reach out via the usual helplines, regarding specific claims whilst they are investigating the matter. However, we are receiving regular updates from HMRC.
