Department: Accounting and Tax
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience
Location: Cranfield , UK

Are you an experienced Qualified ACCA or ACA Accountant , looking to develop your career in a fast-paced, professional services environment?
We are looking for team player who can act as ambassador of the brand helping to attract new clients and maintain existing ones so that the department’s growth plans can be met. Day to day you will be overseeing all client preparations, to ensure accuracy, compliance and deadlines are met.
You will be working alongside others providing a range of accountancy services for client, including the preparation of annual statutory accounts.
You will have strong collaboration skills and enjoy working with others to actively seek opportunities to continuously improve internal processes, ensuring we achieve the highest standards of client service.
With experience post qualification, you will have worked in a practice environment for at least some of your career. Your client portfolio will be a variety of Owner Managers, Tech Start-ups, Tech industry in general, amongst others.
You will have understanding and experience of preparation of annual statutory accounts for small and medium sized companies to a high standard, preferably under the full FRS 102 and FRS 105.

The Candidate in brief…
- ACCA/ACA qualified
- Experience within a practice environment.
- Good working knowledge of accounting software (including Iris, Xero, CCH etc) and CRM systems.
- Understanding and experience of preparation of annual statutory accounts under FRS 105 and FRS 102 (1a) (Small and Medium Companies) to a high standard.
- Good general knowledge of UK tax legislation.
- Good project management skills with a record of delivering client projects to time, quality and financial deadlines.
- Strong organisation skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Up to date knowledge and understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and GDPR regulations
- UK driving licence and access to own transport.
- The right to work in the UK is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities…
- Putting the client first, understanding their needs and expectations so that you can advise accordingly and add value where possible.
- Complete accounting and business advisory assignments to the highest standard and to deadline.
- Look for opportunities to extend the services offered to existing clients.
- Reviewing accounts that have been prepared by the team, ready for final sign-off by Head of Department.
- Support the Head of Department in seeking opportunities for innovation and continuous improvements within our internal processes, both within the department and connections with other internal functions within MPA.
- Prepare technical content for external marketing use, to support the development of the MPA brand and enhance credibility.
- Remain up to date with the latest standards in accounting and tax, ensuring that both through your own CPD (to meet the requirements of ACCA, ACA or other regulatory body) and team members development, are implementing best practice in the day to day.
- Ensure accounting and tax standards are followed and that you are aware of these standards.
- Maintain and keep up to date various business systems in a timely manner.
- Attend and contribute as appropriate to client meetings.
- Ensure that data is maintained accurately and completely, so that it can be used and relied upon to inform effective decisions and actions.
- Undertake any and all AML activities and training in line with the Company AML policy and procedures in a timely manner, so that client work can be acted upon appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Work with the department manager on ad hoc projects as required.
