Boeing announces major UK research programme
Aerospace giant Boeing has announced plans to initiate a major R&D programme with the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). The research will focus on developing new manufacturing techniques to support work carried out in Boeing’s first European factory, which, subject to planning permission, will be sited next to the AMRC and opened in 2018.

Boeing is one of a number of large companies planning to expand their operations in the UK. For aerospace manufacturers, the UK is particularly attractive as they are currently exempt from any threat of cross-border duties after the UK has left the EU under World Trade Organisation rules. If you’re concerned your product development activity is not as easily labelled as meeting the R&D rules as Boeing’s actuation systems then please call us. Our technical analysts have worked in businesses like Boeing, Lockheed Martin and their suppliers, and can use their specialist knowledge to help you.
